Stevenage 1-2 Mansfield Town: Player Ratings as the Stags emerge victorious

Posted: 13.11.21 at 16:59 by Owen Rodbard at the Lamex

LEAGUE TWO: Mansfield Town beat Stevenage 2-1 at the Lamex on Saturday afternoon as Boro's poor league run continues.

John-Joe O'Toole put the Stags 1-0 ahead in the 18th minute, after Boro hit the woodwork through Jamie Reid in the opening stages.

Agonisingly for home fans, Reid's shot hit the inside of the post, but refused to cross the line.

In a crucial match for beleagured Boro boss Alex Revell, the home side equalised through experienced centre-back Scott Cuthbert nine minutes after the interval. The defensive warrior making no mistake by emphatically heading home past Stags keeper Nathan Bishop to make the score 1-1.

Despite wild celebrations at the leveller, Revell's side fell behind ten minutes later, when Stags' substitute Ryan Stirk fired past Adam Smith to seal the points.

Nigel Clough's side's hard-fought victory - their first away from home this season - puts further pressure on Stevenage manager Revell, after losing this crucial six-pointer, with his side remaining in 21st place.
