Stevenage Football Club have signed former Hitchin Town defender Kane Smith

The 26-year-old joins Boro after five seasons at Boreham Wood in the National League, making over 160 appearances for the side that reached the fifth round of the FA Cup last season.

"I'm over the moon to get it done", said Smith after signing for Steve Evans.

"It has been a long time coming, we've been in talks since earlier this summer. I'm delighted to have got it over the line and meet all of the lads today.

"Speaking to the manager was a massive pull for me. He's hugely experienced at this level and knows how to get the best out of his players. The club is also striving in the right direction led by the manager, and it was just a perfect fit for me".

Kane Smith becomes Evans' tenth new signing of the summer and joined up with the squad at Bragbury End for the first training session of pre-season this week as the boss aims to build on a strong finish to last season.
