"It's a stitch up, the public never voted for this out of touch Prime Minister," slams Hitchin Lib Dems parliamentary candidate Sam Collins.

Liberal Democrat candidate for Hitchin, Mr Collins has accused the Conservative party of a 'stitch up' and demands that our town's Conservative MP Bim Afolami backs a bill in Parliament which calls for a general election.

Liberal Democrat MPs tabled a Bill in Parliament on Monday (October 24) which will be given its First Reading on Wednesday after Prime Minister's Questions. The Bill calls for an election by December 1.

Responding to Rishi Sunak being appointed the third Conservative Prime Minister in three months, following the incompetent Liz Truss and disgraced Boris Johnson, Sam Collins, Liberal Democrat candidate for Hitchin & Harpenden said: "This Conservative Party stitch-up has left the country with another out of touch Prime Minister who nobody voted for. Literally not one vote was cast for this man to be Prime Minister. He has no mandate".

"The Conservative Party has trashed the British economy, pushed our local health services to the brink, and added hundreds of pounds to people's monthly mortgage payments".

"I hear from lifelong Conservative voters right across our area who tell me they are utterly fed up of being taken for granted by the government and a careerist local MP.

"The Conservative party has lost all credibility. Hertfordshire Conservative MPs must do their patriotic duty and back our Bill in Parliament to deliver a general election."
