Hitchin responds on social media to MP Bim Afolami supporting Rishi Sunak in another Tory leadership contest

The leadership contest to elect the third PM of 2022 is well underway.

With the hopelessly incompetent Liz Truss forced to resign in shame and embarrassment following her turbulent 44 days in power, that led to a hike in mortgage payments due to her complete and utter inability to comprehend how financial markets work, the country is yet again without a leader.

It had been accepted that Hitchin MP Bim Afolami had backed the wrong horse when voicing his support for the summer's beaten candidate and partner of the daughter of a billionaire, Sunak.

Yet, if a week is a long time in politics. then a month and a half is positively forever and a day, with Hitchin's careerist MP hoping to see his stock rise in Parliament after the fall of political opponent Truss - but only if Sunak becomes PM.

To that end, Mr Afolami posted on his official Twitter account that he would be backing Mr Sunak in the latest contest among Tory members.

However, social media was quick to respond to Mr Afolami's decision.

Hitchin Nub News has rounded up a section of comments to our town's Parliamentarian after his Twitter post.

Please note if you do wish to engage with Mr Afolami on social media - or anyone for that matter, on any subject - and discuss politics, please be respectful and cut out the personal abuse. Nub News does not condone abuse of anyone.

Even True-Blue Tories are annoyed
