Hitchin Liberal Democrats have called on Tory MPs to remove Prime Minister Boris Johnson in tonight's crucial confidence vote

Hitchin Liberal Democrats have called on Bim Afolami MP to put his constituents ahead of his career and remove Prime Minister Boris Johnson in tonight's (Monday, June 6) crucial confidence vote in the Palace of Westminster.

The Eton-educated MP has refused to reveal which way he will vote in the vital contest triggered after at least 54 Tory MPs handed in letters of no confidence.

Mr Afolami has so far remained tight-lipped on the subject - prompting fury and derision from Hitchin Nub News readers who are also his constituents.

Sam Collins, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hitchin and Harpenden, told Hitchin Nub News: "It is clear that Johnson has to go, sadly I fear he won't and those MPs who support him are entirely complicit.

"There are rumours that some Tories are being offered plum jobs to back Boris it will be interesting to see who will put their careers before the country and the interests of their constituents."
