Live like a Victorian Child at the British Schools Museum

Step back in time to the 1800's and learn what it was like to grow up as a Victorian child! 

Experience a lesson in our original classroom and take part in various day-to-day Victorian activities.

On the June 3 at the British Schools Museum why not:

- Take part in a Victorian Lesson

- Try activities including brass cleaning, Victorian washing, shoe polishing and more activities related to everyday Victorian life

- Discover the life of Joseph Lancaster and his revolutionary approach to learning

- Explore our Victorian classrooms and Headmaster's House

- Meet costumed characters around the site

With arrival at 10am, the Victorian classroom lesson will at 10.15.

At 11am there will be activities plus the opportunity to look round the authentic Victorian Headmaster's house.

Pre-booking is essential!

£8.00 per child over 5. (This event is most suitable for children over the age of 5.)

£3.00 for adults, and accompanying under 5s are free.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Come along to our second fantastic Arts and Crafts Fair and support local small businesses and the creative community.

Annual free fun event for families

Buzzworks run a number of Open Days at our Discovery Centre during the summer months. 

These are free to attend however, advance booking is required to guarantee entry. Bookings can be made via the What's On Page.

Cuban Music Night

The Cabaret Bar at The Market Theatre, Sun Street, Hitchin

Hitchin based group The Cubanauts are presenting a night of wonderful Cuban music on Saturday, June 3 at the Cabaret Bar of the Market Theatre in Sun Street. 

The band play authentic songs from the 1950s through to the modern day, all sung in Spanish. 

They include Buena Vista Social Club classics like Chan Chan and Candela. The eleven piece group includes traditional Cuban instruments like the Tres a kind of guitar strung in three pairs to give a jangly sound. 

There is also a brass section, Latin percussion and guitars. 

The band formed seven years ago and have played amongst others at Hertford musical mystery tour, hum drum festival, Balstock and Rhythms of The World's West Fest but this is the first time of doing their own club night, so come along it promises to be a lovely evening. 

The night runs from 730pm to 1130pm

Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival returns with must-have iconic beer glasses sponsored by Lyndhurst Financial Management

Save the date for one of the highlights of the Hitchin summer social calendar

The brilliant Hitchin Beer and Cider Festival returns to its usual spot near to Old Hale Way. 

Since moving from Hitchin Town Hall a few years ago, the community-minded festival will once again take place at King George V Playing Fields next to Hitchin Rugby Club on Thursday, June 15, Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17.

The event will boast more than 200 beers, ciders, perries and meads, with a number of sponsors including Lyndhurst Financial Management, whose name and soon-to-be new logo will appear on the festival's must-have iconic beer glasses.

Todd in the Hole

The Todd in the Hole team have been busy making sure this year is their biggest festival yet. 

With headliners including Ultimate Coldplay, The Rocket Man – a tribute to Elton John, Supersonic Queen, Judge Jules & Pat Sharp already on the bill they've just released their next wave of announcements for The Woods Stage. 

On Saturday festival goers can enjoy music from; The Saboteurs, The Desert Penguins, The Dirty Half Hundred, The Scallywags, Daisy & The Dukes, Meanstreak and Definitely Could be Oasis. 

Super Sunday in The Woods will welcome The Arctic Monkeyz, Chasing Mumford, Ska Britannia and Kazabian to Todd for the first time. 

With a brand-new Wellness & Wellbeing area and details of the Family Arena still to come, this is shaping up to be a perfect weekend. The camping and glamping offering which includes hot showers, posh loos, great coffee and even morning yoga means family and friends can enjoy the whole festival experience.
