Job title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hitchin / Hybrid

Duration: 3 months initially

The role:

You'll take the lead on providing expert contractual insight into our Construction projects across my client's organisation. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to unique projects upgrading the control systems, maintaining & decommissioning assets and new build construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• You'll develop a growing team of junior Quantity Surveyors helping them in their professional development and making them the best in their field, growing the contracts team into a centre of excellence.
• Attend Regular subcontract meetings with clear documentation produced in line with contractual obligations.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects based on the project specifications, drawings, and other relevant information.
• Regularly monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for cost control.
• Prepare regular progress reports on cost and budgetary status for project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Handle contract variations and claims, negotiating changes in scope and associated costs.

Requirements:

• Experience of projects carried out under the FIDIC/NEC form of contract.
• An understanding of the commercial aspects of construction projects, including market trends and economic factors, is valuable.
• Previous experience managing a team.
• Proficient in the principles of forecasting cost & schedule and risks management
• Ability to use and develop spreadsheets, cost analysis and programme evaluation.
