While August is traditional a month for holidays and kicking back Nub News has been going from strength to strength - not least through our innovative intern programme.

In association with Adam Howard and his hugely popular Back to Schoolival event in the form of the North Herts Rugby and Netball Festival Nub News has been working with a select number of aspiring journalists and photographers.

Nub News was humbled to host a public event in which a number of hopeful interns attended to hear more about the trade that is journalism.

Since then, we've been working with excellent writers who have shown outstanding commitment and hard work - not to mention talent.

So step forward our outstanding crop of writers which includes Ruby Corrigan, Sam Johnson, Deven Thakeira as well as photographer George Bigley.

As the popular North Herts Rugby and Netball festival returned last weekend to great acclaim (here's why) read Nub News' music correspondent Ruby Corrigan's exclusive Q&A with top local musician Lawrence Hill here

And here's Nub News' food reporter Deven Thakeira's Up Close feature on the brilliant Amani Kitchen here

We also used George's photographs in a number of stories including the ones above as well as when covering professional sport, when we reported on Stevenage's League Two match earlier this week (click here for more). And that's without mentioning our resident Stevenage FC writer Owen Rodbard who continues to go from strength to strength. (Read his latest piece here )

Quite simply, if you're interested in learning more about journalist and photography contact Nub News at [email protected] - but only if you have a work ethic to go with your passion - just like each and every one of our current interns.

The Nub News success story continues

Since launching our Hitchin site back in July 2020 we have grown beyond all expectation, having more than 3,000 Facebook followers, as well as more than 1,500 Twitter followers, and 800 Instagram followers.

We also have nearly 5,000 people specifically in Hitchin and North Herts who receive our free weekly Friday newsletter (sign up here). And of course the tens of thousands of people who read us on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Quite simply if you want to know what is going on in Hitchin - without dreadful clickbait and completely unrelated stories that have absolutely nothing to do with our town - then you have to read Hitchin Nub News.

If you throw in our dedicated What's On section (why not add your event here) as well as our local business and jobs sections we truly offer an unmissable local service. With our revamped website - free of those annoying pop ups - offering clear coverage of stories that mean something to us and our town, our all round coverage of our town and surrounding areas is unrivalled.

More than 100,000 people up and down the country including Hitchin have now signed up to our Nub News newsletter that our network of towns produce every week.

With more than 70 Nub News towns in the land already, with plans in place for a final target of 700 over the next few years, the Nub News network is revolutionising local and regional journalism in this country.

On behalf of Hitchin Nub News can we say a big thank you to all - including our brilliant Nub News journalism and photography interns.
