You Knew He Was A Wrong 'Un: Social media reacts to Hitchin MP Bim Afolami's appearance on BBC Question Time
Hitchin MP Bim Afolami has been criticised on national television for supporting former PM Boris Johnson.
Our town's Parliamentarian was slammed during his appearance on BBC Question Time on Thursday evening for backing the disgraced former leader, who was forced out of power by Tory MPs last week.
Mr Afolami, who had previously sided with fellow Eton School alumnus Johnson - despite mounting evidence from Partygate scandals and the Sue Gray report, and stayed silent on the Chris Pincher sexual misconduct case - was blasted by a Labour MP on the national show.
On the programme watched by millions up and down the country, including many voters in this constituency, Mr Afolami was derided by Rhondda MP Chris Bryant - who accused him of for enabling Johnson by not resigning sooner from his position as former vice chair of the Conservative Party.
Mr Bryant slammed fellow panelist Mr Afolami saying: "You Knew He Was A Wrong 'Un".
While Mr Afolami resigned from his position as Tory party vice chair on Talk TV last week - he had continually sided with Johnson over the course of his premiership - including the recent leadership vote and in an exclusive interview with Hitchin Nub News recently.
Mr Afolami's appearance comes in the wake of a recent YouGov poll suggesting Sam Collins and the Liberal Democrats could win his Hitchin and Harpenden seat should a General Election be held now.
Mr Afolami - who has now thrown his support behind former chancellor Rishi Sunak in the ongoing Tory Party leadership contest - was also lambasted on social media during his appearance on the long-running BBC political programme.
