Introducing Wellington Evans - Hitchin's newest estate agents.

Hitchin Nub News is delighted to announce Wellington James as the exclusive sponsor of our Property Section.

Wellington Evans is a unique team, made up of experienced local estate agents Nick Wellington and James Evans, who live and breathe property in North Hertfordshire, including the Hitchin area, as well as Central Bedfordshire.

Up Close with Wellington Evans

Hitchin Nub News visited their town centre office in Paynes Park to hear Nick and James explain: "We believe estate agency is about fulfilling people's hopes, dreams and ambitions.

"Moving is more than just bricks and mortar, but changing where you sleep, eat, relax and entertain. It could change your work commute time, or bring you closer to friends and family.

"We are small enough that we can get to know each and every client, offering help and advice from start to finish - but with enough experience and enthusiasm to provide outstanding service, with exceptional results.

"Through transparency and perseverance, our goal is to help both buyers and sellers navigate the often-confusing business of moving home."

Nick and James have been in property for 25 years and came across each other when they worked for different agents in Hitchin.

After many years in the industry, they decided it was all about the personal touch and giving customers more attention - which saw the launch of Wellington Evans.

"We know the area. We know the business," Nick says, adding: "I always say Hitchin has something for everybody. It's close to London, it's a great town centre, it's a got a real sense of community. There's always lots to do, plenty of culture – but equally, the countryside is on our doorstep.

"There are some lovely villages too. It's just one of those lovely places you want to live in."

Nick and James say that because it is just the two of them, the pairing works in their favour by helping create a better relationship with clients.

"James and I decided that we wanted to do 'estate agency' a little bit differently. For want of a nicer word we wanted to do it properly," says Nick, as James nods in agreement.

"We wanted to be completely transparent. We wanted to get the best price for people. That was the starting point for the business: How we were going to be different.

"Certainly, it's early days but the feedback we've had so far has been exactly that. The level of attention we've been able to give people has been different.

"Whether it's a viewing or someone looking to sell their property – customers are getting more time and more information – something that has been well received.

"The ethos behind it is us. We want to be involved in every aspect, every day."

If you're thinking about selling your house the pair pose the question: "The first thing you need to know is 'how much is your home worth'?

Wellington Evans: The estate agent for you

"The feedback we've had so far has been really positive," underlines Nick. "We've had a number of five star review both on Facebook and Google which has been amazing. We haven't had a single person who has met us that didn't want to use us."

Wellington Evans: Hitchin Nub News Property Section Sponsors

Karl Hancock, CEO of Nub News, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with a local business such as Wellington Evans.

"Its values are echoed throughout Nub News, and we are so pleased to be working with the team and helping our readers find a home with Wellington Evans."

"Having Wellington Evans on board as Hitchin Nub News first Property Section sponsor is a landmark moment as Nub News continues to revolutionise news reporting and bring back local coverage to local communities," Mr Hancock added, saying: "Wellington Evans is an ideal partner to work with because, like Nub News, the local community is at the heart of what it does.

"We want to give the community a voice, and our sponsors and across the country - including Wellington Evans in Hitchin - play a crucial part in helping us to do that.

"This sponsorship enables us to provide news and what's on listings without any of the annoying Google Ads, pop-up surveys and clickbait you find on so many other websites owned by bigger companies."

Hitchin Nub News and Wellington Evans - The Perfect Match

James started working as an estate agent in 2006 in Central London having enjoyed a decade in the motor trade previously.

Born in Kingston-Upon-Thames James moved to Hertfordshire at the age of 20. Since 2010 James has worked the Harpenden, St Albans and Hitchin markets and the many connecting villages and hamlets to the south west of Hitchin.

Commenting on Wellington Evans becoming our property sponsor , James added: "We're very happy to be partnering with Hitchin Nub News, because local, community-based interactions sit at the heart of what we do.

"We wanted to partner with someone who can showcase that we are different and can be trusted, and we wanted to partner with a local news outlet that enables us to communicate with the public - and Hitchin Nub News does exactly that."
