NHS Careers Fair comes to Stevenage, on Thursday 14 March 2024

GoVolHerts will be at a large Careers Fair hosted by the NHS and supported by the UNHCR (Un Refugee Agency) and Indeed on Thursday 14 March, 10am – 5pm at the Holiday Inn, Stevenage.

This NHS career Fair aims to support refugees and people facing barriers to employment, to learn more about the 350 different NHS career opportunities available to them, whilst also connecting them to local services, including local government and VSCE organisations. Alongside support with CV writing and interview skills, community organisations will be available to provide information and support on living and working in the local area.

Tatiana, GoVolHerts Volunteer Development Lead said "GoVolHerts understand that volunteering is often a route into expanding skill sets, gaining confidence and experience, and keeping skills fresh, which can enhance job prospects and opportunities. We are proud to support the local community to break down barriers and find opportunities that work for them."

NHS organisations across the country form a critical part of local communities and are anchor institutions, making a meaningful impact on long-term outcomes. Through championing widening access and participation, the NHS can ensure that its workforce is reflective of the communities it serves and celebrates the contributions of its diverse workforce.

The event will have representatives from NHS Trusts, employment organisations such as Indeed, Job Centre Plus, National Careers Service (NCS), and other organisations including GoVolHerts, Department for Work and Pensions, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), North Herts College and more, all under one roof, encouraging access to support and information which may lead to a career within the NHS.
