WITH government plans to ban the sale of new diesel and petrol cars by 2030, increasing numbers of Hitchin motorists will be looking to plug-in their cars rather than filling up the tank.

At a meeting of the county council's highways and transport cabinet panel on Tuesday (June 15), councillors considered how electric vehicle (EV) charging could operate across the county.

Organisers of a popular festival near to Hitchin have revealed they are heartbroken after the Boris Johnson's government insisted that coronavirus rules will remain in place for another four weeks after the planned 21 June unlocking.

OFFICIALS from Hertfordshire County Council have accessed data relating to 26 phone or email accounts in the past year – as part of investigations into fraud, rogue building work, counterfeit goods and dog trading.

As well as information on the account holder – such as name, address and payment method – the county council can also apply for access to calls lists, bills and location data.
