Inspirational Betty with her proud mum Faye

An inspirational five-year-old girl from Codicote, near Hitchin has raised more than £25,000 by cycling a mile a day for 100 consecutive days during the coronavirus pandemic.

Betty-Leigh Allinson, wanted to help the much-loved Garden House Hospice Care, where her grandmother works after learning to ride during lockdown.

Will Hitchin's Pizza Express be on the list of restaurants to close for good following the chain's announcement on Tuesday morning that they were to shut a raft of stores - or will it reopen later this week as per its website?

The chain announced they were considering closing 15 per cent of their restaurants across the UK, a total amounting to around 67 stores – with around 1,100 roles in jeopardy.

Could Pizza Express in Hitchin shut its doors for good?

Pizza Express is planning to close at least 67 of its UK restaurants putting up to 1,100 jobs at risk as a result – which could include their Hitchin branch.

The company announced on Tuesday morning it is planning to enter a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) in the 'near future' in a bid to push down its rents – including their site on the corner of Hitchin Market Place and Sun Street.
