Stevenage beat Cambridge United 1-0 to reach the second round of the Papa John's Trophy.

An Elliot List strike five minutes before half-time was enough to send Alex Revell's Boro into the knockout stages.

The result against Barry Corr's U's saw the Lamex outfit finish second in Group H ahead of Saturday lunchtime's draw.

Round Two remains split regionally into a Northern and Southern section with group winners drawn at home against a runner-up from another group.

Speaking to Nub News after the match, Revell hailed his side adding: "I don't mind who we play in the next round so long as we don't have to travel too far."

The visitors fielded a number of youngsters in their starting XI with the home side proving too strong for Cambridge.

See Nub News for our in-depth interview with Stevenage boss Revell after Mark Sampson's exit this week as the crunch clash with Mansfield Town looms at the Lamex on Saturday.
