As your family grows, you will likely reach a point when your home is no longer big enough, but knowing where to start when looking for a new home can feel overwhelming, particularly if your hands are already full.
Here are four places to start when looking for a new family home that Wellington Evans recommends
1) Prepare your home
Selling your home is often a big step that needs to be taken before moving into a larger home.
You will be given lots of advice on picking your estate agent, including getting X number of opinions first or picking the cheapest fee offered.
As you will be in regular contact with your estate agent for months, choosing someone you trust and get along with is always advisable.
2) Your priorities
Before you start looking for a new home, you first need to decide your priorities.
Many things in a home can be changed, but a location cannot. Perhaps being located near family or a specific school is top of your list?
Next would be those non-negotiables such as a large garden, room for extension in the future, two bathrooms, the list is endless, so decide what is most important to you.
3) Friends and Family
Speak with friends and family who have recently moved or sold in the area that would want to live.
Ask them who they have dealt with and which estate agencies they would recommend.
Reviews and recommendations are worth their weight in gold, especially as people are less likely to shout about a good experience over a bad one.
4) Go directly to the source
You can register with sites such a RightMove, but not all properties get advertised on property directories. It may be that an estate agent has the perfect home for you.
However, the owners have requested it is only listed on the agent's website.
Registering with estate agents not only means you hear about all properties, but they can look for your specific requirements on your behalf!
