This week we are featuring Tracy's Treasured Keepsakes, a brilliant independent business in our area.

So, read on for more from Tracy Fishburn, a successful local businesswoman who achieved double award winning status.

Tracy's Treasured Keepsakes becomes a double award-winning business in less than a week for transforming sentimental clothing into meaningful keepsakes.

Tracy Fishburn, Owner of Tracy's Treasured Keepsakes, made it her goal in 2023 to become an award-winning business but she did not expect to receive two awards in less than a week.

Tracy was honoured at the biz4Biz awards earlier this month when she joined other businesses at the awards final held at Tewinbury Farm, Welwyn.

Tracy said afterwards: "To have been nominated for the second year running felt like such a huge achievement for my business, but to be announced as the winner felt like an Oscar moment.

"I just could not believe my business name was being displayed and as I walked up to collect my award, I could feel myself welling up. All my hard work was being recognised."

After attending the awards night Tracy received the award for New Business of the Year. An award sponsored by Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership that was open to Hertfordshire Businesses in their initial stages of business that demonstrated rapid growth since starting up. Businesses also needed to have a clear marketing plan and development strategy that demonstrated where they are heading in the future.

Following the awards, Tracy says she was in a daze for a good few days after and it had not really sunk in that she had achieved her goal of becoming an award-winning business.

So can you imagine how Tracy felt when under a week later she found out she had also won The Perfect Gift Awards for 2023. Tracy has been awarded the 'Most Thoughtful Sentimental Gifts Business 2023 in Bedfordshire', making her a double award award-winner.

Organisers of the biz4Biz awards said: "The award was in recognition of Tracy's hard work and commitment to providing others a service and is much deserved".

If that was not enough Tracy is attending The Best Businesswomen awards and a finalist for Best Creative business. Tracy set out at the start of the year to become an award-winning business and she has certainly succeeded with this.

Best of luck to Tracy later in the year to bring home a third award for her sewing room.

Tracey's story

At the end of July this year, Tracy's Treasured Keepsakes will be celebrating her fifth year in business since setting up her business in 2018.

After creating her first keepsake bear from her daughters' old baby clothes she decided to start up a small business whereby she could offer this service to local parents.

At first Tracy only considered her clients would be parents like herself, but after being approached by a local grieving mum who had recently lost her son, she realised how rewarding her skill was and how she could bring comfort to grieving families by creating something special and unique from their clothes.

When Tracy returned to work after maternity leave in 2019, the business allowed her to return on a part time basis, Tracy went on to take her business full time in 2020.

In 2022, Tracy was nominated for in the biz4Biz awards and although after meeting with the judges and made a finalist in The Best Small Business category, she was unsuccessful in winning the 2022 award. But she did not let this stop her goal of becoming an award-winning business and continued to look for other awards to enter.

In May this year, Tracy was informed she had been nominated again by her customers for several categories in the biz4Biz awards 2023 and prepared to meet with the judges panel virtually to showcase her business and her future plans, which then led to becoming a finalist for not one but two categories – Made in Herts and New Business of the Year.
